Member reference no. 1006 Biography This member is recognised as an expert practitioner, role model and leader with a varied and exciting career in the voluntary, private and public health services. With a clinical background in nursing and midwifery, she has managed and led clinical services in addition to supporting the planning and development of many services including the establishment of a pioneering national service. She project managed a major capital acute hospital development through the initial critical stages of design. This capital project is now commissioned and has transformed the environment in which services are now delivered. She also held the position of Chief Executive Officer at a Private Hospital, where in addition to the leadership and development of clinical services she was pivotal to governance changes at the hospital. The development of critical executive functions was also an area she focused on during her tenure, especially in Human Resources and Finance. In order to increase her health sector beyond the acute environment she then moved to a Corporate Planning role in one of the former health boards. This critical career move expanded her portfolio into primary care, services for children, older persons, persons with disabilities and mental illness. Her experience gained in this post covered all areas of service provision. She is currently General Manager to the Chief Executive of the Health Services Executive. Given her unique experience across the health sector she is now able to bring that experience to bear in her managing and supportive role with the CEO of the HSE. Her interest in Corporate Governance is aligned to her practical experience and following completion of the Diploma in Corporate Governance she has continued her studies. She has successfully completed year one of a two year Masters in Organizational Behaviour at the IMI / TCD. She expects to graduate from this course in June 2007.
